The scratchy communications of the other enemy ships from the marauders in the first game to the indistinguishable pings, blips, and beeps of the keepers in the second game, the tone of a voice says everything about an alien race. In a way, it makes the Bentusi seem more alien and in many ways it’s a choice that seems to miss the point of the game’s atmosphere. However, in this new version of the games there’s an echo that’s been placed over their voice over. It’s a voice that brings you comfort, although unfamiliar.
